There are tens of thousands of undocumented youth in NYC - most of whom are living with an undocumented parent or caretaker. Many of these youth are homeless or disconnected, possibly facing stigma, social isolation and depression; they do not have access to parents/relatives who've got through the higher American education system and they need guidance and resources.
Atlas: DIY seeks to meet that need by pairing undocumented youth with mentors. A mentor is someone who can provide advice, share life experiences, and help members navigate entrance into their chosen career field!

Mentor's are the lifeblood of the Mentor/Mentee program at Atlas. These amazing youth are waiting to be given a chance to learn from you!
Atlas: DIY specifically matches mentors with mentees that have similar interests - to ensure the experience is optimal for both parties. We will provide an orientation session for all mentors who wish to attend. This will allow you to better understand the immigrant experience and to give you advice on being a mentor. You will also be provided a list of great FREE NYC activities and invited to seasonal MENTOR/Mentee celebration events such as baseball games, music fests, and other cultural activities!
