What is CASA?
Run by our amazing youth-coordinator Jesus, CASA is Atlas' first entirely youth-run program, created by and for our young people to combat isolation and challenge the media's notion of what being an "immigrant" means.
C.A.S.A's Mission:
Community Art for Social Action is a project that embodies AtlasDIY's mission to create a youth lead, safe space for the purpose of empowering ourselves a immigrant youth (documented and undocumented) through art. Community-Based Vision: self-motivated art projects that present a personal narrative that challenges or furthers the current discourse on immigration as an issue and as an experience. From video production to networking skills, our goal is facilitate a collaborative process where we learn from one another and are able to teach each other our skills.
Vision for The World At Large:
A collection of online-accessible artwork (all mediums) produced by and for immigrant youth with an intentional empowering social justice message. We are the narrators of our own stories.
Our mission is to create a message of self-advocacy and self empowerment that outgrows the CASA project itself and becomes a greater movement of immigrant self-expression.
As C.A.S.A members we are committed to actively creating a culture that values our experiences and recognizes our fellow members (documented and undocumented) as contributors to our weekly meetings every Sunday from 4- 6pm.
